Baccarat Rules
Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards. Cards with less than a value of ten are give a value of their printed number while 10, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each applied a value of 1. Wagers are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual players; they simply appear as the two hands to be played).
2 hands of two cards shall then be played to the ‘banker’ as well as ‘player’. The total for any hand is the sum of the two cards, but the 1st digit is dumped. For eg, a hand of seven and five will have a score of 2 (sevenplusfive=12; drop the ‘one’).
A third card may be dealt depending on the foll. rules:
- If the gambler or banker has a total of 8 or 9, the two gamblers stand.
- If the gambler has five or lower, he hits. bettors stand otherwise.
- If bettor stands, the banker hits of five or lower. If the gambler hits, a chart might be used to figure if the banker stands or hits.
Baccarat Odds
The bigger of the 2 scores is the winner. Successful wagers on the banker pay out nineteen to 20 (even odds minus a five percent commission. Commission is monitored and paid out when you leave the table so be sure to have cash left over before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay 1 to one. Winning bets for tie normally pay out 8 to one but occasionally 9 to 1. (This is an awful bet as ties will occur lower than one every ten hands. Avoid laying money on a tie. However odds are decidedly better – 9 to 1 vs. eight to one)
When done smartly, baccarat presents relatively good odds, away from the tie bet of course.
Baccarat Tactics
As with most games, Baccarat has some common myths. One of which is close to a roulette myth. The past is never actually an indicator of future events. Keeping track of historic conclusions on a chart is for sure a complete waste of paper as well as a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life to be used as our stationary.
The most popular and possibly most successful tactic is the one-three-2-6 concept. This tactic is employed to build up payouts and controlling risk.
Begin by betting 1 unit. If you win, add 1 more to the 2 on the table for a total of three on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have six on the table, take away 4 so you have two on the 3rd gamble. If you win the third wager, add 2 to the 4 on the table for a value of six on the fourth wager.
If you don’t win on the first wager, you suck up a loss of one. A win on the 1st bet followed by loss on the 2nd causes a loss of 2. Wins on the 1st 2 with a loss on the third gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the fourth mean you break even. Accomplishing a win on all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of ten. Therefore that you can lose the second bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
