Baccarat is bet on with eight decks of cards in a shoe. Cards under 10 are valued at face value and with 10, J, Q, K are zero, and Ace is one. Bets are made on the ‘bank’, the ‘player’, or for a tie (these aren’t actual people; they just represent the two hands that are dealt).
Two cards are dealt to both the ‘house’ and ‘gambler’. The total for each hand is the sum total of the cards, but the 1st digit is dumped. For example, a hand of five and 6 has a value of 1 (5 plus six equals 11; ditch the initial ‘1′).
A third card might be dealt based on the rules below:
- If the player or banker gets a score of 8 or nine, the two players stand.

As with all games Baccarat has quite a few common misconceptions. One of which is the same as a misconception in roulette. The past is not a harbinger of events about to happen.
