Baccarat Regulations
Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards in a shoe. Cards valued less than ten are said to be at face value while at the same time 10, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each given a value of 1. Bets are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual people; they merely represent the 2 hands to be played).
2 hands of 2 cards will then be given out to the ‘banker’ … ‘player’. The value for every hand is the grand total of the two cards, but the 1st digit is dumped. For example, a hand of seven and five produces a score of two (7plus5=12; drop the ‘1′).
A 3rd card may be played depending on the foll. standards:
- If the gambler or banker has a value of eight or nine, each bettors stand.
- If the bettor has five or less, he hits. Players stand otherwise.
- If player stands, the banker hits of five or lower. If the bettor hits, a chart might be used to decide if the banker stands or hits.
Baccarat Odds
The higher of the 2 scores wins. Winning wagers on the banker pay at 19 to twenty (even odds less a five % commission. Commission is tracked and moved out when you leave the table so make sure to have $$$$$ still before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay one to 1. Winner bets for tie customarily pay 8 to 1 but sometimes nine to one. (This is a terrible gamble as ties occur lower than 1 every ten hands. Avoid putting money on a tie. However odds are substantially better – nine to 1 versus eight to one)
Played effectively, baccarat presents fairly decent odds, away from the tie bet obviously.
Baccarat Strategy
As with most games, Baccarat has some well-known myths. One of which is quite similar to a misconception of roulette. The past is not a predictor of future happenings. Tracking of previous results on a chart is simply a waste of paper and a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.
The most commonly used and almost certainly most successful tactic is the 1-3-2-six method. This method is used to accentuate payouts and lowering risk.
start by wagering 1 unit. If you win, add 1 more to the two on the table for a total of three on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have 6 on the table, take away 4 so you have 2 on the third bet. If you win the third wager, add two to the 4 on the table for a value of 6 on the fourth wager.
If you lose on the first bet, you suck up a loss of 1. A win on the first bet followed by loss on the second will create a loss of two. Wins on the first 2 with a loss on the 3rd gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first three with a loss on the 4th mean you break even. Arriving at a win on all four bets leaves you with twelve, a profit of ten. Thus that you can lose the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of four bets and still break even.
