Baccarat Standards
Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards. Cards under ten are said to be at their printed value whereas 10, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each applied a value of 1. Wagers are placed upon the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual persons; they just depict the two hands to be played).
Two hands of two cards shall then be played to the ‘banker’ and ‘player’. The value for any hand shall be the sum of the two cards, but the initial digit is discarded. For example, a hand of seven … 5 gives a total score of two (sevenplus5=twelve; drop the ‘1′).
A 3rd card might be given out depending on the following guidelines:
- If the gambler or banker has a total score of eight or nine, each players stand.
- If the player has five or less, he hits. gamblers stand otherwise.
- If bettor stands, the banker hits of five or lower. If the player hits, a chart is used in order to decide if the banker stands or hits.
Baccarat Odds
The larger of the two scores is the winner. Winning wagers on the banker pay out 19 to 20 (even odds less a 5% commission. Commission is kept track of and moved out when you leave the table so ensure that you have dollars still before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay 1 to one. Winning bets for tie usually pays eight to one and occasionally 9 to 1. (This is a terrible gamble as ties happen less than one every 10 hands. Definitely don’t try placing bets on a tie. Even so odds are vastly better – nine to one versus 8 to 1)
When done properly, baccarat provides relatively decent odds, apart from the tie wager of course.
Baccarat Tactics
As with just about all games, Baccarat has some common myths. 1 of which is quite similar to a roulette myth. The past is in no way an indicator of future happenings. Tracking of old outcomes on a chart is undoubtedly a total waste of paper and a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.
The most commonly used and possibly most successful strategy is the one-three-two-6 concept. This technique is employed to pump up successes and lowering risk.
start by gambling one unit. If you win, add one more to the 2 on the table for a total of 3 on the second bet. If you win you will have 6 on the table, remove 4 so you have two on the third wager. If you win the 3rd bet, add two to the 4 on the table for a sum total of 6 on the fourth gamble.
If you don’t win on the 1st wager, you take a loss of one. A win on the 1st bet quickly followed by loss on the 2nd brings about a loss of two. Wins on the first 2 with a loss on the 3rd gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first three with a loss on the 4th mean you break even. Accomplishing a win on all four bets leaves you with twelve, a profit of 10. In other words that you can get beaten the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of four bets and still break even.
